Wondertoller
Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever
As true fans of the retriever world, with many (wonderful) years in the company of our fantastic Labradors, with the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever (also known as “Toller”) it was love at first sight. We live in Cervia in the province of Ravenna, a small town on the Adriatic Sea. Our passion for Tollers was born in 2014 on an agility field, as soon as we see these beautiful red dogs, fast and precise, we decide to deepen the study of this breed. In January 2017 our beautiful and wonderful Cuba arrives, the one who has allowed us to live so many beautiful adventures. Life with a Toller is a colorful life, great swimmers, reliable and attentive trekking companions, precise and tireless workers, lazy and funny dogs from home and especially from the sofa .... In January 2020 our first litter was born, strongly desired and dreamed of so much ... a wonderful experience, which gave us four fantastic puppies. Our selection goal is health first, our dogs are tested for the main genetic pathologies of the breed have the official FCI plates ed FSA oculopathies. The second cornerstone of the our objective of selection is the good character, the fact that the dogs are balanced and that they demonstrate that they have the fundamental characteristics that a retriever must have. No less important is the morphology and the typicality of the subjects, in addition to personal taste, we rely on the judgments obtained in the expo and the results achieved, as well as the teachings and advice of highly experienced breeders.
The Nova Scotia Duck Tolling retriever
It is the least known of the retrievers, but the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever is a very pleasant dog with a great character and also ideal for life around the house and in the city.
The origins of the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever can be traced back to the 19th century when, in Nova Scotia (Canada), this breed was selected as a retriever and caller for waterfowl.
His main job is to run, play and jump along the water's edge, to capture the attention of the ducks that intrigued, approach and are brought within range of the hunter, who is hidden nearby. His other task is then to return the ducks, killed or injured, to his master. The breed became very popular in Canada and the United States around the 1980s, while in Italy its spread is only recently.
Characteristically, the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever is an intelligent, receptive and resistant dog . It is a very attentive dog and able to perceive everything that happens around it. Apparently at times he seems a bit dejected, but as soon as he gets back into action he regains all his polish. It is a very obedient, jovial dog, easy to train and suitable for living in the family and in the city; moreover it is particularly resistant both on land and in water, where it shows its great skills as a swimmer. At work he is a tenacious dog and ready to shoot as soon as the need arises; while carrying out his activities he always remains focused and excited.
